Taboo Conversations: Life, Death + Dignity.
Taboo Conversations is a mini-series of dialogues leading up to our main conference. We will invite two conversationalists to have an ‘off the cuff’…off the record conversation…ON RECORD.
This will be an evening of conversations considered to be taboo. The theme for this edition of Taboo Conversations is Life, Death + Dignity. For this event, we will explore two questions:
- When do you decide to let a baby die?
- How do we ensure we all die with dignity?
We have invited two conversationalists, Vanessa Stewart and Leonard Bernstein who will lead the discussion. Click here to RSVP
Meet our Conversationalists
Dr. Vanessa Stewart is a senior paediatrician on our island who has worked in both the public and private sector. Vanessa has almost thirty years experience managing a range of paediatric related challenges. In her work Vanessa has had to deal with some of the most difficult conversations related to birth. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the theme birth, life and dignity.
Dr. Leonard Bernstein is a retired orthodontist and former Professor of Orthodontics at Boston University and has also received a Masters Degree in Public Health. He and his colleagues, like Dr. David Bratt, have come to believe that dying with dignity is a public health issue. Recently, they began developing an organization to address this very taboo conversation of Dying with Dignity.
