TEDxPortofSpain Salon – Action!

We are excited to announce our 3rd TEDxPortofSpainSalon event for 2014, ‘Action!‘

Date: Wednesday 17th September, 2014
Time: 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Venue: Little Carib Theatre, Cor. White & Roberts Streets, Woodbrook

For this Salon, we have teamed up with the Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival (ttff) to co-host an exciting event. We will explore the “act of doing” as catalyzed through the medium of film.

Films are often regarded as mere entertainment but film can promote and evoke social and personal change. Both talks show the idea of doing by taking action in their communities and using film as the vehicle for their ultimate goals. These talks will encourage the discussion of film as an agent for community development, self awareness and the defining of our cultural identity.

Why the invite?

In the spirit of ‘ideas worth spreading’, TEDxPortofSpain will be hosting a gathering called a TEDxPortofSpainSalon. At this event, we will bring together active film and theatre enthusiasts in the local community. Our goal is to inspire, challenge and most of all, spark lively conversations on issues which will engage curious souls.

We believe that having you at the event will help add value and promote more interesting and enlightening discussions. The meeting of ideas will hopefully result in positive actions. We will be viewing TED videos, exchanging ideas and networking.

Additionally, this event is organised by a group of volunteers. We simply ask for a minimal payment of TT$30 in order to cover our costs. This can be facilitated via payment online or for cash payments, you can make a deposit to our ScotiaBank account. Here are the details:
