Announcing two exciting TEDxPortofSpainSalons
TEDxPortofSpainSalon – Making Space
Date: November 11, 2012
Time: 6:30 p.m.
In the leadup to TEDxPortofSpain 12.12.12, we will be hosting two very exciiting Salons.
TEDxPortofSpainSalon – Making Space
For this Salon we have teamed up with Sustain T&T to co-host an exciting event. The theme will be “Making Space” and will feature an art installation by Marlon Darbeau. Marlon will talk a bit about his work and participants will have the opportunity to engage, ask questions and discuss how design can affect and improve lives. Attendees will also watch a couple TEDTalk videos followed by a discussion or “Conversation Cafe”.
This event will take place at the artists’ space, Alice Yard on Roberts Street, Woodbrook and will feature a “cocktails” lime after the official program.
Although this event is free, we wish to clarify that your attendance is not tied to a contribution in anyway. Since Alice Yard is making the space available at no cost, any contributions made will go towards ensuring the sustainability of events like this at Alice Yard. Contributions are therefore welcome, but not mandatory. All contributions should be issued payable to Sustain T&T (Green Screen).

About Sustain T&T
As part of the great work they do Sustain T&T is hosting ‘Green Screen – the Environmental Series’. Green Screen is in its second year as a platform for environmental and sustainability themed films here in Trinidad & Tobago. Sustain T&T and their series hold at their core a strong mandate for collaboration and innovation, so a co-hosted event with TEDxPortofSpain is an ideal vehicle for a shared vision.
The selected TEDTalks were chosen to inspire discussion around how design can improve lives in various ways and how design can contribute to more sustainable lifestyles. “Green Screen” itself is dedicated to promoting sustainability and environmental awareness, taking into account that all spheres of human endeavour can influence and impact others, using film as the medium for this message. We hope that this collaboration with TEDxPortofSpain pushes the conversation to a new level and unlocks some potential solutions to local issues.
